Upcoming Workshop at LUMSA: Digital Health Technologies in sub-Saharan Africa – Ethical Challenges

An international seminar of the STRATEGIC project (Sustainable eThics Reviews of digital heAlth Technology dEsiGn In sub saharan afriCa) will be held on Thursday, 27 March 2025, from 10:00 am to 12:00 am CET, at LUMSA University, Sala del Consiglio, Via Pompeo Magno 28, Rome.

It will also be possible to join the meeting online via Google meet: https://meet.google.com/rtd-zpvw-obf.

On this occasion, after opening remarks by Laura Palazzani (Full Professor of Philosophy of Law and Coordinator of LUMSA research unit in STRATEGIC), LUMSA will host a lecture by Dafna Feinholz (Chief of Bioethics and Ethics of Science and Technology Section at UNESCO) on the topic of “Digital Health Technologies in sub-Saharan Africa: key ethical challenges”.

A dialogue will follow with Dirk Lanzerath (Full Professor of Philosophy and Head of the German Reference Centre for Ethics in the Life Sciences (DRZE), University of Bonn; Secretary General of the European Network of Research Ethics Committees (EUREC); STRATEGIC Coordinator), Bernd Stahl (Full Professor of Critical Research in Technology, University of Nottingham; Responsible for STRATEGIC Project Management), Alberto Garcia Gómez (Chairholder UNESCO Chair in Bioethics and Human Rights and Dean of the Faculty of Bioethics at The Pontifical Athenaeum Regina Apostolorum), Laura Palazzani (Full Professor of Philosophy of Law and Coordinator of LUMSA research unit in STRATEGIC), Fabio Macioce (Full Professor of Philosophy of Law, LUMSA University), Mirko Daniel Garasic (Associate Professor of Moral Philosophy, Roma Tre University), Loredana Persampieri (Research Fellow in Philosophy of Law and member of LUMSA research unit in STRATEGIC), Plinio Limata (Researcher in Economic Policy and Institutions, LUMSA University), Margherita Daverio (Researcher in Philosophy of Law, LUMSA University), Noa Cohen (Research Fellow in Philosophy of Law, LUMSA University).

Participation of PhD students and undergraduate students is also envisaged.
